Today, AuthorHouse presents Justice Served by self-published author LoniKaye Harkless.

About the author: Justice Served is based on true events that LoniKaye researched and lived. Although she wrote plays in high school and college, this is her first novel. Born and raised in South Carolina, she now resides in Los Angeles.

As an experienced medical doctor and academic, she has a broad-based wealth of experience from which to approach the many needs of her clients and customers. She’s also an inspirational speaker and researcher in the fields of motivation, self-esteem, attitude, self-confidence, purposeful living and success principles.

What’s it about? (from the book’s overview): Justice Served is based on a true story of love, prejudice, infidelity and murder. In 1961, a white woman is murdered and a young man whom she has taken under her wing and treated as a son is arrested and later executed. Almost forty years later, one of his young cousins begins a quest to clear his name.

The book received a four-star rating (out of five) from Clarion–click here to read the entire review. An excerpt follows:

“The characters come alive off the page. Joyce’s older sister, Vonetta, is constantly tired from spending her days cooking and cleaning. Sis, their mother, is terminally ill but looks forward to Joyce’s updates on Robert James. And Joyce, who returned home from California, has interests ranging from fishing to spinning jazz records to admiring a handsome man here and there.

The book captures the heartbeat of the South, from the welcoming glass of lemonade proffered in each household to the descriptions of everyday life. For example, a constant house guest in Vonetta’s home is the lonely and ever-helpful Junior Banks: “No one ever called him Junior or Banks. It was always Junior Banks.”

Justice Served is available in the AuthorHouse Bookstore, along with thousands of other great titles. Thank you for visiting AuthorHouse Book Reviews!
